FAQ

What is a REST API tester?
A REST API tester lets developers create HTTP requests and inspect API responses without building a frontend application.
Why am I getting Unexpected token '<'?
This usually happens when an application expects JSON but the server returns HTML, often because the URL is incorrect, the endpoint does not exist, a proxy redirects the request, or the server returned an HTML error page. This tool safely checks the response content type before parsing JSON.
Does this tool support authentication?
Yes. Bearer Token, Basic Authentication and API Key authentication are supported.
Can I send JSON requests?
Yes. Select POST, PUT or PATCH, open Body, choose JSON and enter a valid JSON payload.
Why does my API request fail with a CORS error?
Browsers enforce Cross-Origin Resource Sharing. If the target API does not allow your website origin, a browser-only API tester cannot bypass that restriction. A server-side proxy is required for those APIs.
Are request history and variables stored on a server?
No. This implementation stores history and local variables in your browser's localStorage.
